After nearly 5,000 kms of driving around Mumbai, the Fabia 1.6 petrol throws quite a few surprises - pleasant as well as unpleasant ones.

Long Term Review: Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.6 MPI (petrol)

This particular Skoda Fabia 1.6 that we got for a long-term review has a special place in the hearts of everyone at OnCars India. Not because it has a sprightly 1.6-litre petrol engine (yes, that too), but because it is the first car that we had reviewed under the OnCars India brand when we began operations in March 2011. That also adds a better perspective to our review, for when we had sampled the car last year it was fairly new – just out of its first scheduled service and a little over 1,300 kms on the odometer. And when it came through for our long-term test in December 2011, the odometer read over 14,000 kms – that is almost as much as a petrol-car will do in two years in an average Indian running cycle.

I am planning to buy a new car with budget of 6 lac. My choice are Swift, Polo, Fabia and Jazz. My daily running is 8 to 10 km. I'm using Alto right now. Should I buy diesel car or petrol car? You said on the show that if running is not more than 30 to 40 thousand then diesel is not a good option so please advice.

I have been using a Fabia 1.2 for over 1 year and I have faced a few electrical issues with my car. The left headlamp bulb has failed three times till now and electric window on front right has failed one time. Apart from that the experience of owning this car is very good. I had considered buying Swift at that time but the waiting list was too long.

Yes, half the people who spread rumours about bad fuel economy don't know how to drive the cars for better fe. You guys should do a video about how to get good fe from such performance small cars.
