After nearly 5,000 kms of driving around Mumbai, the Fabia 1.6 petrol throws quite a few surprises - pleasant as well as unpleasant ones.

Quick Facts:
No. of kilometres driven by me: ~3,500
Value of fuel used: Rs ~19,000
Overall Fuel Economy: 12 – 14 kmpl
Maintenance Costs incurred -
Electronic wheel alignment: Rs 350
Wiper shampoo replacement: Rs 100

This particular Skoda Fabia 1.6 that we got for a long-term review has a special place in the hearts of everyone at OnCars India. Not because it has a sprightly 1.6-litre petrol engine (yes, that too), but because it is the first car that we had reviewed under the OnCars India brand when we began operations in March 2011. That also adds a better perspective to our review, for when we had sampled the car last year it was fairly new – just out of its first scheduled service and a little over 1,300 kms on the odometer. And when it came through for our long-term test in December 2011, the odometer read over 14,000 kms – that is almost as much as a petrol-car will do in two years in an average Indian running cycle.
