Bring the classic styling elements of Mercedes Benz into your living room with the automaker's first-ever line of home furniture.
Leaving the confines of designing a luxury modern vehicle, Mercedes Benz has stepped into a completely new market, so as to prove just what the company's design department can do. The German automaker has debuted its first-ever automotive-inspired furniture collection at the 'Salone Internazionaler del Mobile' or the '2012 Milan Furniture Fair' in Italy.
A couple of years ago, Mercedes Benz announced a new label, 'Mercedes Benz Style' that would allow its in-house designers to collaborate with non-automotive manufactures to create something new and fascinating. In the past, we have seen the Style division giving birth to a variety of products from helicopters to boats to watches, all bearing the unmistakable Mercedes Benz design language. Similarly, Mercedes Benz Style division collaborated with the Formitalia Luxury Group - one of Italy's leading luxury manufacturer of designer furniture to create these stunning pieces of home decor, which will be branded with the familiar three-pointed star logo.
"Formitalia and Mercedes-Benz stand for top quality and exquisite workmanship which embodies luxury and passion," says Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz. "We are therefore extremely pleased to create the first Mercedes-Benz Style furniture collection together with Formitalia."
The Mercedes-Benz Style collection comprises one sofa, a chaise longue, a dining room table, various chairs, a sideboard, a shelf unit with integrated home theatre system, a chest of drawers and a bed. All pieces bear a subtle Mercedes-Benz Style logo.
"The various pieces of furniture reflect the progressive, dynamic design idiom of our current show cars and concept vehicles, offering an exclusive, emotional experience outside our vehicles as well," Wagener explains.
The stunning furniture collection will be exhibited until the 22 April 2012 at the 51st edition of the Milan Furniture Fair. The collection will be offered on sale worldwide, starting this October by the Formitalia Luxury Group who also sells furniture by Lamborghini and Aston Martin.
