The new M-Class takes the German automaker's sales numbers up by 10 per cent in June 2012.
While the global auto industry is witnessing a sharp decline in sales due to economic slowdown and steadily rising petrol cost, German luxury carmaker, Mercedes Benz India has reported a 10 per cent increase in sales, thanks to its new third generation M-Class SUV that has gathered total sales of 175 units within the first month of its launch.
The new AMG-styled 2012 Mercedes Benz M-Class (Edition 1) that was launched in the Indian market in May 2012 at a starting price of Rs 68 lakh has already sold more than three times compared to sales of the SUV in the corresponding period last year.

Mr Debashis Mitra, director sales & marketing, Mercedes-Benz India explains, “We are proud that the first 100 units of New M Class (Edition 1) costing over Rs 68 lakhs were sold within few days of the launch! We have sold 175 units of M-Class in the first month proving that our strategy to offer products loaded with features is well accepted by our customers and they are willing to pay a price for the same.
He further added that “In falling market, only new product launches lift sentiments. While our strategy of “Go to customer” by tapping them in tier II markets is paying off, our brand initiatives with AMG driving academy & STARDRIVE is delivering results over a period of time”.
