Hints towards minor facelift to tackle the new competition

The BMW 7-series got a complete revamp back in 2009 and completely outclassed its aging rivals, the Audi A8 and the Mercedes Benz S-class. However, with Audi having launched the all new A8, Mercedes Benz expected to bring out the new S-class soon and Jaguar having a great time with its flagship cub, the XJ, BMW is now getting ready to give its 7-series luxe a minor facelift to keep it looking fresh.

Autoblog has posted images of the said 2012 BMW 7-series being tested on the road. As can be seen in images, the front and rear bumper’s design tweaks are being hidden by the cladding tape. The tape also hides a row or two of day-time running LED strips at the front and maybe at the back too. Also on test is a hybrid powertrain, which in all fairness could be a tweaked version of the current ActiveHybrid tech found on the 7-series.
