The new batch of spy shots shows off the new front-end.

It has become a trend now – if your car has been a success in the ever-growing crowd, then show off its pride by making the facelift look aggressive. The i20 and the Swift are the most recent examples of this phenomenon. So it is no surprise that even Ford is making a similar move now with their poster boy, the Figo. Our friends at IndianAutosBlog have in fact caught the refreshed Figo being tested in their home town and from what can be seen in the images below, the Ford hatch could be going sharper than what its current design portrays.

The headlights for one are raked backwards with what looks like a sharp, tapering tip. This could either be because of slightly re-profiled headlights or it could remain similar to the headlights seen on the current Figo, however, with revised detailing that lends them the new look. As can be seen in the photo, the turn-blinkers have now moved to the lower end of the headlight assembly. This placement seems similar to the one seen on the new Fiesta sedan and establishes the familial connection further, we believe. The bumpers too seem to be redesigned slightly with new design for the fog-lamp surrounds.

At the back, we expect re-designed taillights to be the only change. On the inside, the 2012 Figo is expected to get a push-button starter like the one found in the Nissan Micra, Renault Pulse and the new Hyundai i20.

We are expecting the Figo facelift to make an entry onto the scene by Diwali this year – which is also rumored to be the same time when the facelift of the Maruti Suzuki Ritz comes out. With the new yellow colour seen on this test mule, the Figo could also seem as youthful as the Ritz.
