The smallest BMW crossover comes refreshed for MY 2013; expected to arrive in India by the end of 2012.

The 2013 BMW X1 has finally been launched in the United States at the on-going 2012 New York Auto Show. The official images of the refreshed X1 were revealed just days before the Auto Show in the big apple city kick started.

The smallest of the Bavarian crossover has been available in India, Canada and Europe for quite some time now, but it is the first time ever, the United States will see the new X1 running on its streets. And while, preparing to introduce the X1 in North America, BMW has given a subtle facelift to the crossover for the model year 2013, which will also be seen in the Indian market by the end of this year.
Visual design tweaks in the 2013 BMW X1 comes from the revised headlight housings, a redesigned front bumper, a large double-kidney grille, and sleeker looking mirror housings. On the inside, nothing much has changed except for the addition of some new materials, colors and trim options and sizable helpings of electroplated trim on the console and the shifter.

Built in Leipzig, Germany, the U.S-spec X1 will come in three flavors - two-wheel driven sDrive28i, four-wheel xDrive35i and the four-wheel xDrive35i. The first two versions will sport the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine, rated at 240PS of power and 353Nm of torque. Stop-start technology and regenerative braking will come standard in order to help boost fuel efficiency. The xDrive35i sports the venerable 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine, rated at 300PS of power and 406Nm of torque. However, the India-spec BMW X1 will come equipped with the entry-level 2.0-litre diesel engine.
Expected to arrive in India by the end of 2012, the BMW X1 will compete with the Audi Q3 on the form factor and the upcoming Mercedes Benz B-Class on the price front.
