German sports carmaker Porsche has revealed an all-new plug-in hybrid concept based on the 4-door Panamera. Called the Sport Turismo concept, the one-off model features an all-new design theme which Porsche says will make its way onto the updated Panamera scheduled to go on sale next year.
The Sport Turismo concept carries a far less sleek design, especially towards the rear which makes the car look a little upright and more like a compact crossover despite having a longer roof-line. Overall though, the design looks better balanced than that of the current model.

Under the hood, the Sport Turismo concept uses a plug-in hybrid system also found in the Cayenne hybrid. Here, of course, it makes more power. The 3-litre V6 engine is mated to an electric motor to deliver in excess of 420PS of power. Porsche claims the Sport Turismo can hit 100kph in less than 6 seconds.

Being a hybrid, the Sport Turismo can be driven purely on electricity for about 32 km before running out of juice. The Sport Turismo remains as a concept for now but as the company says, the new design will be incorporated in the updated Panamera.
