2012 Renault Duster diesel could launch at Rs 9 lakh

The petrol-powered variant of the Duster SUV could come with a price tag of Rs 7.5 lakh.
Earlier in the day, we had brought to you the full details, specs and varaints of the upcoming 2012 Renault Duster; thanks to the official brochure of the SUV that was leaked onto the Internet.
Now according to our sources close to the company, the diesel variant of the 2012 Renault Duster SUV could be launched at a starting price of Rs 9 lakh. This means that the base variant of the Duster SUV, i.e. the RxL could arrive in Indian tomorrow with a starting price of Rs 9 lakh. Furthermore, BSMotoring has reported that the petrol-powered variant of the Duster SUV will be accompanied by a price tag starting at Rs 7.5 lakh.
The indigenous Renault Duster SUV was launched in UK just few days back at a competitive starting price of sub-Rs 8 lakh and we were expecting to the Indian-spec Duster to be priced just as aggressively. And looking at the above speculated prices of the petrol and diesel variants, it seems like Renault's Duster SUV is here to stay.

In all, Duster SUV will be offered in 6 variants - 2 petrol and 4 diesel variants. The petrol variants (RxE and RxL) will come powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine, while the diesel variants will be fitted with a 1.5-litre dCi engine that will be tuned of offer either 85PS (RxL and RxZ) or 110PS (RxL and RxZ) of max power.
The petrol engine and 85PS diesel unit will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the powerful 110PS diesel unit will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
