The long awaited Safari Storme is here! Will co-exist with the current Safari.

Tata Motors' have finally rolled out its long awaited Safari Storme SUV in the Indian market today at a starting price of Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi.)

The all-new Safari is being offered in a total of four variants - the LX, EX, VX, and VX 4X4.

Powering the new Safari Storme is a 2.2-litre, 'VARiCOR' diesel engine that produces 142PS of max power and 320Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figure is 14 kmpl for the 4X2 variants and 13.2 kmpl for the 4X4 variant.

The new SUV comes equipped with features such as music system, power steering, power steering with Auto-Up, Electronically Adjustable ORVM, central locking, Driver Seat Height and Lumbar Support and wood and chrome inserts on the inside. Safety features include ABS with EBD, Engine Immobilizer, Disc brakes and two airbags.

The 2012 Tata Safari Storme is being offered in a total of seven colour options - Urban Bronze, Sardinia Red, Pearl White, Pearl Champagne, Astern Black, Arctic White and Arctic Silver.

Tata Motors' will continue to offer the previous generation Safari on sale in India and is also expected to put into effect a price cut on the old model.

The Safari Storme has made its debut in the Indian market after nearly three years of being spotted doing test rounds, around the country. And with every spy shot we saw the SUV going through constant changes and development, so as to be competition worthy in front of popular rivals like the Mahindra XUV500, the Renault Duster SUV and the upcoming Ford EcoSport. Therefore, instead of a mere facelift, the Indian automaker took its time and rolled out the all-new and better Safari Storme in the country.
