The image of the high performance version of the hatchback has been leaked on to the Internet ahead of its Paris debut.

Volvo had presented the all-new India-bound hatchback, Volvo V40 at the recently concluded 2012 Geneva Motor Show. And the Swedish automaker reportedly, is already working on the high-performance version of the hatchback, 2012 Volvo V40 R-Design - the images of which has been leaked on the Internet. The high performance Volvo V40 in R-Design trim is slated to make its official debut at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show in September.
From the images, it is seen that the 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design will sport a more aggressive exterior design than the standard version, which has been highlighted with the rugged looking front bumper fascia with vertical DRLs. The brushed aluminum mirror housings and five-spoke alloy wheels further add to hardcore stance of the new V40. The high performance hatchback is expected to come with the same engine options as the standard version, but the units will come tweaked to deliver more power and torque output.

The 2012 Volvo V40 is expected to go on sale in the European market by the end of this year and will land on the Indian shores by 2013. In the overseas market, the hatchback will challenge the likes of BMW X1, Audi A3 and the Mercedes Benz B-Class.
Unfortunately, we don't' have much details on the R-Design trim of the V40, but more will be revealed when the 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design makes its official debut on the 29 September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
