BMW plans to give the 5-series a mild mid-life upgrade.
Germans are quite competitive, not only on the racetracks but in the market too. So when Mercedes was caught testing the 2013 E-class, BMW couldn't have stayed far behind.
Thanks to Motorauthority.com, a BMW 5-series, minimally covered under the hypnotizing camouflage has been caught testing in Munich. Not much seems to have changed, with only the front and some parts of the rear covered under the cladding. Now since Mercedes is probably planning to give the W212 (Current E-class) a small upgrade next year, the 5-series facelift is the right thing for BMW to do.

Expected changes in the 2013/2014 5-series include new headlamp design (Square Daytime Running Lights), updated tail-lamp design and a new rear bumper with a very 7-series like twin exhaust. Apart from that, neither the speculations nor the industry reports suggest an engine upgrade for the Five.

We are expecting the updated 5-series to be launched sometime in late 2013 or early 2014. Since India is one of the important markets for the Bavarian manufacturer, the 2013 5-series could reach the Indian market as early as 2014.

But like always, this is just a teaser of things to come. Expect more test mules and information to surface soon.
