The first four-door coupe in BMW's history will roll out in the country next week.
BMW India have just announced that the company will roll out its all-new 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe in the Indian market on 8 November 2012.
Now the 6-Series has traditionally consisted only of two-door offerings, but with the new 2013 model, the 6-Series Gran Coupe has thrown out the convention to the wind. The 2013 6-Series Gran Coupe features four doors - a first in BMW's histry - with seating for 4+1 people. The 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe was first seen at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The Gran Coupe's sultry looks and low, sloping roofline instantly distinguishes itself from a traditional sedan design. Aside from the revised sheetmetal and the addition of two doors, the new model is essentially a close twin of the 6 Series coupe and convertible models that are already on sale.

Sporting a length of 5,007mm and a wheelbase of 2,968mm, the Gran Coupe is 111mm longer than its 2-door coupe sibling. A significant part of this extra length has been used to enhance seating comfort for the rear passengers. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is also 1,894 mm wide and stands 1,392mm in height. For comparison purposes, the Gran Coupe is 102mm longer, 34mm wider and 72mm lower than the BMW 550i.

Under the hood we hope to either see a 448PS, 4.4-litre V8 engine or the BMW's more popular 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six cylinder that churns out 318PS of max power and is mated to a 8-Speed automatic gearbox.

In the Indian market, the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe will compete with the likes of Mercedes Benz CLS, Audi A7 and the Porache Panamera.
