The new LR4 features updated styling and trim levels; will go on sale in January 2013.
Land Rover has officially pulled the wraps off the new 2013 Land Rover Discovery 4 that is scheduled go on sale in January 2013. For the new model year, the LR4 features a series of changes for exteriors and interiors and has picked up new range of engines to match its ZF's eight-speed automatic transmission.

Kicking off with the exterior, the new model now gets five new colours - the Causeway Grey, the Mariana Black, the Barossa, the Barolo Black and the Havana - and features restyled 19-inch alloy wheels. However, a set of 20-inch alloys can also be ordered under the new Black Design Package, which features a new gloss black grille and satin black roof rails.

On the inside, changes are limited but include revised upholstery, an updated navigation system, an improved infotainment system with a digital TV tuner and two new trim choices - Grand Ivory Lacquer and Cosmic Grey trim. There's also an extended leather package which adds Windsor leather on the seats, dashboard and doors.

The new diesel engine range includes a 210PS/520Nm 3.0-litre V6 diesel unit as entry-level that replaces the long-serving 2.7-litre turbo diesel unit. A mid-spec 248PS/600Nm version of the same engine is also being offered. In both variants, maximum torque comes online at 2,000rpm, while peak torque at 4,000rpm.
A new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission replaces the old six-speed gearbox, sending drive to all four wheels via Land Rover’s full-time four-wheel drive system.

Topping the new engine rage is the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre petrol V8, mated ZF's stronger six-speed automatic transmission. Power for the big V8 is rated at 375PS at 6500rpm, and 510Nm at 3500rpm.

Land Rover global director John Edwards said, “The Discovery 4 continues to win awards for its unrivalled versatility and breadth of capability, accommodating up to seven passengers in comfort whatever the terrain. For 2013, the breadth of choice gets better, with equipment upgrades and our new Black Design Packs enhancing the key design attributes that our customers identify with today. As the ultimate all-purpose vehicle, the Discovery 4 is now more compelling than ever before.”
