Open-top version of the Viper could debut before end-2013.

The SRT (or Dodge) Viper is no stranger to the concept of open top motoring; ever since the launch of the first-generation model back in 1992, the Viper is designed, developed and sold first as a convertible and then as a hardtop.
So when SRT launched the 2013 Viper as a hardtop last year, we sort of knew a convertible version would soon follow in the hard top’s footsteps. Now that no less a person than the president of SRT performance division, Mr. Ralph Gilles himself has stated that a convertible version is being planned, we can safely presume that the 2013 Viper will spawn a convertible version.
“The car was designed to be a convertible. Under the skin is a convertible chassis. It’s already there – the stiffness is there. It’s extremely easy should that come, but we’re not in any rush” Mr. Ralph Gilles was quoted saying by Ward’s Auto.
