While Mahindra is gearing up to launch its Korean subsidiary Ssangyong's Rexton SUV in the India market that is expected to launch by October-November this year, the official renderings of the 2012 Ssangyong Rexton have been released. The facelifted Rexton SUV is slated to launch in the international market on 24 May at the 2012 Busan Motor Show in South Korea.

However, it should be noted that the2013 Rexton SUV previewed here wouldn’t be the one coming to India - at least not this year. Mahindra is most likely to launch the Rexton III in the country, the one that was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi earlier this year, and was caught testing in India by Team OnCars back in January.

Now coming back to the Euro-spec Ssangyon Rexton SUV that has been wearing its current body since 2001, followed with minor cosmetic and mechanical updates in 2005 and 2010 -for the MY 2012 the big SUV has taken a big step forward from the dated design. There is a new wider and bolder chrome grille, sharper and assertive headlamps and an expressive bumper headlong assembly at the front. The rear of the new SUV features redesigned taillights and a boxier bumper. LED daytime running lights will be integrated into the headlamp bodies and slender new fog lights will feature in the bumper.

There are not much details about the mechanical changes, but most likely a 2.0-litre four-cylinder entry-level diesel engine will power the 2013 Rexton SUV.
