We bring you all the information and details on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga to help with your research on the new people carrier.

All you need to know: Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been official launched in India now with a jaw-dropping introductory price of Rs 5.89 lakh! The Ertiga is Maruti Suzuki’s take on an economical people carrier then and aims to attract mid and large-sized families for whom a mid-size sedan is inadequate. At a starting price under Rs 6 lakh for the petrol variant, we would even see a lot of fleet operators signing up for the Ertiga as an economical substitute to the Mahindra Xylo and a premium alternative to Maruti’s own Eeco.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been launched with two engine options. The petrol variant marks the debut of the 1.4-litre K-series engine (KB14) which puts out a healthy 95 PS of power and 130 Nm of torque. The diesel variant uses the tried and tested 1.3-litre Multijet / DDiS engine from the SX4 with a variable geometry turbo which helps the oil-burner in churning out 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque.

The downside, like most Maruti Suzuki cars of recent times, is that the base and mid-level variants of the Ertiga have very few features to feel good about – while the top end versions with all the bells and whistles will set you back by a good Rs 7.3 lakh or Rs 8.45 lakh for the petrol and diesel versions respectively. What is also disappointing is the fact that the price difference between the corresponding petrol and diesel versions is over Rs 1.3-lakh – which is quite high considering the cost difference between similarly spec-ed SX4 variants (in the similar price range) is close to Rs 1-lakh only. Nevertheless, the Ertiga is priced pretty competitively and is a seven-seater alternative at the price of a mid-size sedan.

It would be very useful for us to plan our purchase if you can mention the approximate on road price of vehicles in different cities.
