Alto is the highest-selling hatch

The Alto has broken yet another sales record. Not only is it the highest-selling car in the country, it also is now the highest-selling hatchback in the world for the financial year 2010-11. It beat the VW Golf in Germany, and the Fiat Uno and VW Golf in Brazil as well. The Alto sold just over 3 lakh units, and increase of 25 per cent over the previous year thanks in no small part to the K10 variant with the new three-cylinder engine. Maruti expects sales for the Alto to go over 4 lakh units this financial year!
