Audi A8L 4.2 TDI launched at Rs 1 crore

Audi India has launched the A8L with a 4.2-litre, V8 diesel engine. Priced at Rs 1,00,75,000 crore, the A8L 4.2 TDI sits between the base 3-litre TDI and the range-topping 6.3-litre W12 petrol versions of the company’s flagship luxury sedan.

The A8L 4.2 TDI, as the name implies, comes powered by a 4.2-litre turbocharged V8 engine which produces about 350PS of power and a massive 800Nm of torque from as low as 1,750 RPM. Power is put down to the tarmac via 8-speed trip-tronic automatic gearbox and Quattro 4WD system. Audi claims a 0-100kmph time of just 5.6 seconds. Thanks to such monumental amount of torque onboard, the V8 diesel is only a second behind the range-topping 6.3-litre W12 powered A8 which hits the ton in about 4.7 seconds. 

For the Indian market, like the 3.0 TDI and the W12 versions, the A8L 4.2 TDI will be available in long wheelbase version only. Called as the A8L, the car has been primarily designed to serve chauffeur driven customers, offering more space at the back.
