Is the new Hyundai Sonata good enough to take on the Accord and Superb?

The Hyundai i40 has been christened and rechristned in whatever market it is launched in. In India, perhaps, the company had had enough to having the 'i' in their car names. Or they wanted to bank on an older, more recognisable name. We are guessing it was the latter. Which is why the company opted for the familiar 'Sonata' badge.
What was launched at the Auto Expo was the new fluidic design Sonata. That's just about the only thing that is familar about the new Sonata; everything else is a world apart from the old car with teh same name. It has fluidic design, which has been well received in the Verna and Eon, and it offers a range of features that only a Hyundai can offer like cruise control, paddle shifters, all ventilated seats, and both front seats electrically adjustable etc.
Will the new Sonata be successful? If you think back to the original Sonata launched in India - yes, the one that looked like a Jag - everyone and their uncle liked it, and those who could, got one for themselves.
It is quite possible that despite hallowed competition like the Honda Accord and Skoda Superb the new Sonata will make its mark in the market. The price hasn't been announced, but Hyundais have always been good value, and add to that the fact that the Sonata has to prove a point and convince buyers that a premium Hyundai is a good thing, and you'll end up with the answer that yes, it is going to be quite the bargain, even when new in the marketplace.
