Basecamp brings European caravans to India

We trek, we go for long excursions, we even go river rafting. So why not carry our cozy homes with us! And maybe that's what the guys at Basecamp thought when they decided to bring the Hymer Sporting Style 465 and Delthleffs Newline 410th models of caravan to India.

If you're new to the whole idea of attaching a small carton like thing to the back of your SUV, here's some info. Caravans are portable homes with beds, bathrooms, refrigerators, proper kitchens, storage bins and shelves, TVs and what not! You name the creature comfort and there's a good chance that the caravan has it. In the above mentioned models of caravans, you carry your luggage, a portable generator(you get a 220V socket too, in case you don't want to carry it) to power everything and two gas cylinders for cooking.

The models available: Dethleffs Newline 410tk comes at a price tag of Rs. 16 lakh, while the larger Hymer Sporting Style 465 comes for Rs. 22 lakh. Add another 40% of the respective price as the import duty.

Basecamp will take around 45 to 90 days to deliver the caravans. They have tied up with Bharat Petroleum and Haryana Tourism to create caravan parks, the first of which has already been made at Okhla in New Delhi.
