Audi finally brings the S4 to India after a lot of buzz, teasers and Facebook requests.
During the Indian launch of the Audi A4 in May, Michael Perschke, Director at Audi India, had expressed the carmaker’s intent of bring the S4 to the Indian market. What followed was a series of buzz, teasers and even requests from fans on Audi India’s Facebook page.
However, the wait seems to be over as Audi has silently slipped the sports sedan into the Indian market. The 2012 Audi S4 will be priced at Rs 45.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) and will be available with the 3.0 TFSI badge. Which means that under the hood of the S4 will be a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that puts out over 335 PS of power an 440 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven speed S-tronic gearbox. The car will be shod with 245/40-R18 rubber which help put the power down to the road and help the car sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than five seconds with a restricted top end whack of 250 km/h. Should you care the fuel economy for the Audi S4 3.0 TFSI in India is 10.34 kmpl as per ARAI certification.
The Audi S4 3.0 TFSI goes on sale in India today across 19 dealerships including the recently opened showrooms in Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and its second in Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal. The price quoted is highly tempting and arguably one of the quickest sports sedans you can buy in the country at that price point!
“We have been receiving requests for the new Audi S4 from car enthusiasts all over the country eversince it was first seen at the Audi Driving Experience where Indian motorsport ace and Audi S4 owner, Karun Chandhok drove it on the tracks of the Buddh International Circuit. We decided to utilize the power of our huge fan base to gauge customer sentiments for this. We started the ‘Vote for S4’ campaign on various social media platforms and the outcome was overwhelming as thousands of fans participated on a daily basis and unanimously voted to bring the S4 to India”, added Mr. Perschke.
