Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV to arrive in India

General Motors India is planning to introduce the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer in the Indian market. The Trailblazer SUV made its international debut in concept form at the 2011 Dubai Auto Show back in November 2011. The SUV, which is based on the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck will compete with the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Outlander and Renault Koleos in the Indian market. 

The seven-seater SUV looks captivating from the images with its typical bow-tie family grille at the front and large dual projector headlamps. On the inside, the company claims that the Trailblazer will come loaded with features such as a dual-zone  climate control system, GPS navigation, DVD drive, Bluetooth, USB and aux-in ports. The off-roader will have two engine options, a 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 180PS of max power and a 2.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 150PS of max power. 

The new SUV reportedly will be brought into the country via the CKD route with parts being imported from Thailand and will be assembled at the company's facitlity in Halol, Gujarat. Assembling the Trailblazer locally will help the company to price the new SUV aggressively between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 21 lakh. 

The Chevrolet Trailblazer will first hit the market in Thailand by the third quarter of 2012 and then could be introduced in India by the end of 2012 or early 2013. However, it will be interesting to see how GM India markets the new Trailblazer and the Captiva simultaneously; both SUVs will be pitched in the same segment and will most likely carry a similar price tag.
