Confirmed: Mercedes-Benz India to launch 2013 G63 AMG on February 19

As we reported earlier during the month, Mercedes-Benz India is all set to grace the premium SUV segment with the G63 AMG – one of the most powerful off-roaders on sale in the global markets. Our sources close to the carmaker have confirmed that the launch is scheduled to take place on February 19. With the introduction of the G63 AMG, Mercedes will replace the existing G55 AMG that has been around for quite some time.

Powered by a twin turbocharged V8 that makes 550 PS of power, this new model marks a 30PS increase from the outgoing G55 AMG. Although the looks of the G63 AMG remain largely the same as the model it replaces, it gets a more aggressive looking twin-slat grille, redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, five spoke 20-inch wheels and a few other subtle upgrades. 

There's no word on the pricing just yet, but expect the 2013 G63 AMG to cost well over Rs 1.2 crore when it goes on sale.
