Exclusive: India-spec 2013 Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton W spotted ahead of official launch

We do really seem to have a special connection with Mahindra's Korean subsidiary, Ssangyong. First we got our hands on the exclusive video of the Rexton II being tested near Nasik in Maharashtra. Later we speculated that the Rexton W, which was showcased at the 2012 Busan Motor Show in Korea could be the model that Mahindra will get into the country - instead of the outdated Rexton II that was shown at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. Our speculation was confirmed when, once again we got our hands on the first exclusive images of the Rexton W being tested on the Indian soil. 

And now, one day ahead of the official launch of the Ssangyong Rexton W in India, we managed to snag the first live images of the high-end SUV. 

Just yesterday, Mahindra had activated the India-specific website - SsangyongRexton.in that also teased the upcoming SUV in a short video that says 'Coming Soon.' However, the images that we have our hands now, reveal a lot more than what the teaser images did.

We also hear the Rexton W SUV will be offered in a total of two variants that will be priced apart by Rs 50,000 from each other. Overall, the Rexton SUV could be priced above the XUV500 by Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000.

The third generation Rexton W is built on the Mercedes Benz M-Class platform and  is said to come equipped with tons of cool features. The high-end SUV will rival the Toyota Fortuner, the Pajero Sport, the Ford Endeavour and the Hyundai Santa Fe in the Indian market.
