Exclusive - Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 could launch on September 15, 2012

We all knew that iconic Maruti 800 had reached the end of its life cycle and that a new model is in the pipeline. Only, in May 2012 we got hold of the first exclusive images of the new model that is now being known as the new Alto 800, which is all set to replace the aging people's car. Furthermore, just last week AutoCar India reported that the launch of the new model is sooner than expected.

Now however, our sources close to the company have reported that the brand new 2012 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 could grace the Indian market as early as 15 September 2012. It should be noted that there is no official confirmation from Maruti Suzuki on the said report. 

Details are very limited at the moment, except for that the price tag to accompany the new model will read well below Rs 2 lakh and that it will be powered by the same 796cc three cylinder engine from the Alto, which has been tweaked so as to meet the current emission norms.
