The Prancing Horse will build V6 and V8 engines that could make way into Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Lancia models.
f the rumors coming out of Italy are correct, then soon we will see Fiat's high-end brands running on streets fitted with fire breathing engines built by the Prancing Horse.
According to Italy's Ansa, Fiat and Ferrari have reportedly, signed an agreement that calls for the Italian supercar maker to develop and build new engines for Fiat's high-end models such as Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Lancia. Reports also suggests that Fiat will pay Ferrari close to 50 million euros for its service.
The two engines in question are most likely to be a twin-turbocharged V6 with a top end power of 450PS and a naturally aspirated V8 engine delivering over 500PS of top whack. Ferrari will not only develop these engines, but will also build a dedicated production line for the new powerplants.

The Prancing Horse engines could initially make way into the upcoming production version of the Maserati Kubang SUV concept, the baby Quattroporte and the next-generation Quattroporte.
However, Ferrari's new motors for the Fiat brands will not see the light of day until 2014. Hopefully, more details regarding the aforementioned deal will come through in the coming months.
