Present during the event, Fiat’s top officials were seen discussing engine technologies and company’s future plans.

After parting ways with Tata Motors, Fiat India, with the aim of expanding its presence in India has begun work on building up its brand image once again. While the ultimate goal of putting up a respective performance on the sales charts is in clear sight, Fiat also wants to showcase a host of technological innovations discovered by the brand besides other Italian marquees. Which is why the carmaker has started off a new theme called ‘Italian Technological Marvels’ at the Fiat Caffe in Delhi and Pune.

The event, held yesterday at the Fiat Caffe in Pune, saw top officials from Fiat India talk about Italy and its culture of inventions. Mr. Enrico Atanasio, Head-Commercial, Fiat India and Mr. Gurpratap Boparai, Head, Fiat Powertrains, were seen explaining and discussing the MultiJet technology and their upcoming plans for the Indian market.

Mr. Gurpratap Boparai also talked about the twin-cylinder, TwinAir engine that powers the Fiat 500 in Europe, making it one of the cleanest cars around. However, he explained that the focus currently is on the diesel space and TwinAir technology will not be introduced here anytime soon.

Meanwhile, now that Fiat is on its own for handling sales and service of its cars, Mr. Enrico Atanasio said that the brand will have a strong network of dealerships in coming months. The company is planning to open around 80 dealerships by early-2013.
