The 500X is expected to go on sale next year; will compete with Mini’s Countryman SUV.
Fiat recently showed a glimpse of the all-new 500X to a slew of journalists at the brand’s media conference in Turin, Italy. The 500X as the name suggests, is based on the ‘500’ platform and is the fifth and the biggest model to join the well known ‘500’ range that includes the two-door hatch, the 500C convertible, the 500 Abarth and the more recently, 500L mini MPV.
Fiat says that the 500X is around 4.2 meters long and will be made available in both front wheel and all-wheel drive versions. As for the power-train, the engine options are likely to be Fiat’s TwinAir 900cc, twin-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and the familiar 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel.

The Fiat 500X could be officially showcased at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show in September followed by the launch sometime in 2013. There is little chance that Fiat might consider bringing in the 500X for the Indian market. The car, if introduced here in India, will be an import and probably be sold in limited numbers, just like the two-door 500 hatch and will directly challenge the Mini Countryman SUV.
