The company clocked total sales of 8,005 units in April 2012.

General Motors India have reported a decline in sales by 20.34 pent in April 2012 with total sales of 8,005 units. The company had sold 10,050 units in the same month last year.
"The sales were not on the expected lines as uncertainty in fuel prices, hike in excise duty, and hike in local taxes in some states continue to put a lot of pressure on the automobile market," Mr P Balendran, vice president, GM India said.
"Also, a lot of purchases were advanced by customers in February and March fearing duty hikes in the Union Budget. With the RBI going for CRR cut to improve market liquidity and reducing repo rates by 50 basis points, we expect the market to improve in the coming months," he added.
Last month, the company sold 821 units of small car Spark, 4,586 units of hatchback Beat, 140 units of entry-level sedan Aveo, 28 units of mid-sized sedan Optra and 455 units of luxury sedan Cruze. It also sold 1,953 units of multi-purpose vehicle Tavera and 22 units of sports utility vehicle Captiva during the month.
