The facelift design of the Cruze sedan may make world premier in India.

General Motors unveiled their new Cruze Station wagon at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and back then we were one of the first to confirm that the front of the new wagon will also feature on the Cruze sedan facelift. Now there are reports that GM will launch the new facelift version of the Cruze in India, next month.
The Cruze sedan facelift has not been launched in any of the global markets yet, which also means that probably the car will make its world premier in India. The overall design of the facelift remains the same but there are still substantial tweaks that make it look different from the current model. The slats have been stacked horizontally in the front grille instead of usual honeycomb method. The front bumper has been reshaped. The lower grille has been replaced with a single integrated slat. And the Fog lamps have been redesigned to be positioned in the new triangular casing.

The tail lamp cluster of the Cruze facelift is also tweaked a bit, but now gels in a lot better with the overall design of the car. The new Cruze will be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine in India, though it might be re-tuned to produce around 160PS and also deliver better fuel economy. There are very few changes inside like new colours for instrument console, new audio unit and other upgrades.

General Motors is readying quite a few new models for launch in India this year; but plans start with their successful D-segment sedan. Chevy will also launch the Sail hatchback and sedan later this year, followed by the facelift Captiva SUV and all new MPV ‘Enjoy’ that will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. All of the above models were displayed by GM at the 2012 Auto Expo in January.
