Hindustan Motors launches the Veer SCV

Small commercial vehicle built on the Ambassador platform aims at providing the convenience of a pick-up and the comfort of a car.

Hindustan Motors, the manufacturers of legendary cars like the Ambassador is now planning on re entering the automotive market with a range of vehicles in this financial year. First to drive off the factory from the new range is a small commercial vehicle (SCV) which a capacity of 0.8 tonne for the Kolkata market. After Kolkata, other cities are also to be in included in phase manner.
Built on the Ambassador platform, The Veer is robust with a tried and tested design. With necessary changes in the Suspension and transmission, the SCV will be available in BSIII diesel and BSIV CNG version. The Veer is available in two variants. Veer and Veer LX - while the Veer model has a separate load tray, the Veer LX has the load tray integrated with the front cabin. The SCV is also available as a drive-away chassis (DAC) with front cabin. Prices for the Diesel variant of the Veer start at Rs 3.30 lakh in Kolkata.
Also on the cards is a 7 to 9 seater commercial passenger vehicle based on the Ambassador platform, and a CS version of the Ambassador which will be under the 4- metre length category. Currently HM is selling another vehicle apart from the Ambassador, called the ‘Winner’. Based on this Light Commercial Vehicle, (LCV) HM also plans on selling a 9-10 seater passenger carrier.
