Honda has revealed the production version of the new 2012 Civic sedan headed for the US

Honda has taken the wraps of the production version of the 2012 Civic sedan which is making its way to the United States soon. Shown in a concept form at this year’s Detroit Motor Show, the production version doesn’t look like a major departure from the conceptual design. However, it does lack the visual flair that one expects from a Civic. Agreed, that this is the American version and the older US-spec model wasn’t a great looker either, but what this Civic misses out on is the low slung design and aggression. Hopefully the JDM version, which also comes to India, should do better justice to the outgoing model.

The US gets the Civic coupe, Civic Si coupe, Civic 4-door sedan, Civic Si sedan and Civic 4-door hybrid. India however will get the sedan only. Under its hood is a tweaked up version of the 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with 140 bhp of power output and 5-speed manual and automatic options. The interiors of the new Civic are an evolution of the current model, albeit with better ergonomics and a driver-oriented asymmetrical design as is seen in the photos.
