India-bound Maruti Suzuki Ritz facelift launched in Europe

The Ritz facelift is expected to be launched in India before Diwali.
The Maruti Ritz in India is the second-best diesel hatchback for those who don’t want to wait for the Swift diesel. The Ritz has been doing relatively well in the entry-level hatchback segment when compared to cars from other manufacturers, but nowhere close to the numbers of its elder sibling. That is in spite of the fact that the car is cheaper than the Swift, and can be attributed to its unconventional looks.
Maruti has been planning to launch the facelift version of the Ritz for a while – not that it is designed in India, as it is global hatchback and is called Splash in Europe and Japan. Suzuki has launched the facelift version of the Splash in the Japanese and European market and the car is on sale from start of June. The exactly same looking Ritz is expected to be launched in India before Diwali this year.
The new facelift version will sport a refreshed front with a new bumper with new fog lamp surround and grille. From the front, the new Ritz looks slightly taller and leaner due to lots of vertical lines in the design. There are minor changes to the rear of the car and also to the interiors to maintain the novelty factor. There won’t be any changes under the hood and car will still be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre multijet diesel engines; although they might be tweaked a little for better efficiency.
With the launch of the new Ritz facelift, Maurti will hope to capture the entry-level hatchback segment that is now evenly poised with the Ford Figo, Tata Indica, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai i10 all doing quite well.
