Labour department initiates proceedings against Maruti Suzuki

Haryana state department alleges that Maruti has violated the agreement signed in October 2011.

It seems that Maruti’s labour woes are still far from over. All though the things are quite at all the Haryana facility at this moment, it seems that the things have not quite reached normalcy. Now, the Labour department of the Haryana state has started proceedings against Maruti Suzuki for violating the agreement signed last October, after the labour issues at the Manesar plant.
The department claims that Maruti had promised to set-up a statutory ‘Grievance Redressal Committee’ and’ Labour Welfare Committee’ at its Manesar plant, post last year’s stirkes. However, the same have not been formed as yet, even though the new labour union has already started discussion for salary revisions.
A challan has been filed in the Gurgaon court under section 9 C of the Industrial Dispute Act 1947, by the labour department. Maruti has confirmed that they have received a notice, however refused to further comment on the same. All five top-executives of the Maruti Suzuki who were signatories to the agreement signed on October 19, 201 can be prosecuted for the violation.
