Huracan could be the name of the Gallardo replacement or the Estoque concept.

Lamborghini trademarks the name 'Huracan'

Lamborghini is still keeping us auto enthusiasts guessing about the company's product strategy for the next few years, by filing paperwork to trademark names for its upcoming models. First was the name 'Diemos' that we thought and still think is the production name of the new Lamborghini SUV, even though the company was calling the new SUV in concept form, the Urus when it made its global debut at the recently concluded 2012 Beijing Auto Show.

Now according to reports coming out of Europe, Lamborghini has gone ahead and filed more paperwork to trademark another name 'Huracan' or spanish for Hurricane. Apart from obvious meaning of the name, 'Huracan' is also the name of the god of fire, wind and storms, according to ancient Mayan mythology.

Now, we are not very sure what is going on with these names, but our best guess is that maybe the name 'Diemos' will indeed become the production name of the new Lambo SUV with Urus limited to being the name of the SUV concept, while the 'Huracan' will be the name of the upcoming Gallardo replacement.

In another scenario, the name 'Huracan' could also be given to the fourth model in the company's line up - the Estoque concept, which was first shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and which the company is still deliberating, whether or not to push the four-door Estoque concept into production.

Whatever it is rests assured that OnCars would dig out more information on the same and get it back to you as soon as we possibly can.
