Luxury motorhomes by JCBL PLA launched in India

JCBL Group, one of India's leading bus body makers based out of Chandigarh in a technical collaboration with the Italy-based PLA SLA have rolled out two variants of the ultra luxury motorhomes into the Indian market, which have been priced between Rs 75 and Rs 80 lakh a unit (on-road price, New Delhi).

Based on the Fiat Ducato platform and badged as 'JCBL PLA' for India, the two models have been tagged as HS75 and M742 respectively. The JCBL PLA HS75 features four certified passenger seats with a option of a fifth certified seat and is equipped with five beds, washroom with a separate tower, a dinning table, triple gar burner stove, a dish wash basin, a refrigerator, television and storage cabinets. The HS75 model has been tagged at Rs 75 lakh (on-road price, New Delhi).

The JCBL PLA M742, on the other hand has been priced around Rs 77 lakh (on-road, New Delhi) and can accommodate four passengers with an option of a fifth certified passenger seat. In addition to the features seen in the HS75 model, the M742 features seven beds, overcab heating and a safety net.

The premium motorhomes are being powered by the Fiat Ducato's .30-litre Multijet diesel engine that churns out 180PS of max power and 400Nm of peak torque. 

Rajinder Aggarwal, CMD, JCBL Group, said, “Our motorhomes are designed around people’s need and crafted to perfection with style and imagination. It’s a perfect symbiotic existence of art and technology. Trust, reliability and strength are hallmark of our motorhomes.”

JCBL Group is said to make an initial investment of Rs 10 crore in these motorhomes and aims at selling 100 units in the first year. Aggarwal expects the numbers to double every year after that. 

Under the tie-up between JCBL Group and PLA SLA, the former will pay a fee for the technology provided by the latter. The motorhomes will be assembled in India, while the chassis will be imported from Italy. Both companies will relook at the tie-up and enter into a joint-venture company after two years. Under the said JV, PLA will buy equity from JCBL Group.
