The third XIV concept will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
After showcasing the XIV and the XIV-2 concepts in the past few months, Mahindra Ssangyong is now ready to show the third iteration – the e-XIV – at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. As the name suggests, the latest concept from Ssangyong will feature an electric drivetrain, which gives the concept its ‘e’ prefix. The ‘XIV’ stands for ‘eXciting user Interface Vehicle’ and features a unique smartphone powered interface for the cabin controls. Ssangyong believes that the intuitive interface will help the carmaker attract the younger generation to its products.

The e-XIV features a solar roof panel that stores energy for ancillary functions while, an extended-range electric drivetrain propels the compact crossover. The oily bits of the e-XIV concept will only be revealed at the Paris Motor Show. As far as the design goes, the e-XIV is an evolution of the design direction shown on the earlier concepts. The e-XIV measures 13.6 feet in length, 5.9 feet in width, 5.2 feet in height and with a wheelbase of 8.5 feet.

The production version of the XIV crossover is expected to roll out by late 2013 and an Indian launch could be under consideration since Mahindra is planning on introducing the Ssangyong brand to India soon with the Rexton W.
