Mahindra XUV500 completes one year in India - Over 35,000 units sold

Bookings for the All Wheel Drive (AWD) version of the SUV have now been opened.
It's been exactly one year since Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd rolled out its Cheetah-inspired XUV500 model that would go on to becoming one of the best-selling SUVs in India. Having gathered over 35,000 sales figure for the Indian automaker, the SUV already has over 14,000 bookings as of end of September 2012 that are to yet to be delivered.

The SUV500 is currently said to have captured a market share of 60 per cent in the high-end SUV segment. Having received a phenomenal response in India, and also in Australia and South Africa, the SUV500 is now gearing up to make its mark in Europe and in other international markets.
The company has already ramped up its production capacity to 5,000 units per month to meet rising demand.
Furthermore, the bookings of the All Wheel Drive (AWD) model of the XUV500 the bookings that has been suspended by the company have now been resumed again.
Speaking on the one year anniversary of the XUV500, Mr Pravin Shah, chief executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said “We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from customers to the XUV500 that has led to impressive sales of 35,000+ in just one year. This is a benchmark for sales among high-end SUVs, for which we would like to thank our esteemed customers.”
