The plant will have an annual production of about 30,000 units.
If sources are anything to go by, the all-new generation of India’s first and only EV, the Reva will soon find a home. Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian utility vehicle giant and the company behind the making of the Reva NXR, plans to open the manufacturing facility in Bangalore on August 22, 2012.

The Reva NXR is an entirely new product and is expected to come with prices of around Rs 5 lakh, which doesn’t seem like much considering the fact that the NXR shares very little in common with its smaller sibling, the Reva-i, that costs between Rs 3.75-4.5 lakh. It’s a compact 2-door hatchback and can seat four adults although housing two people at the back will be quite a squeeze.
With the help of lithium-ion batteries, the Reva NXR can drive up to 160 km on a single charge, however, the real world figure will be close to 100km. With a topspeed of over 80kph, it is also claimed to be much faster as compared to the older car.
With the ever rising demand for more compact and fuel efficient vehicles, especially here in India; cars like the Reva NXR could prove to be a worthy option for someone whose driving is limited within the confines of the urban jungle.
