Maruti hopes to grab 50 per cent share in the Indian market with the new launch.

The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has received an overwhelming response from Indian market within days of its launch. The all new seven-seater tagged as LUV (Life Utility Vehicle) by the country’s largest car maker, has bagged about 10,000 bookings within the first five days of the launch. The Ertiga has been well received by both the families and the fleet operators thanks to its utility, but more importantly due to highly competitive pricing.
The Ertiga is a product specifically developed considering the needs of the Indian market, it is more of a five-seater with lot of boot space that can also carry seven people when required. The LUV is available with a new 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine or the 1.3-litre multijet diesel, which gives much better fuel efficiency as compared to the other seven-seaters (read, Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo). Although, the Ertiga is way smaller as compared to its competitors it is also smartly priced to not compete directly with either of them. This along with the badges of the most preferred car brand in India has made the Ertiga an instant hit.
With this new launch Maruti once again aims to grab 50 per cent share in the Indian market. The market share of Maruti dropped to all time low of 38.44 per cent due to the labour strikes at its Manesar factory last year. Also, lots of manufacturers have entered the Indian market with new products in last couple of year, which has directly impacted company’s numbers. MSI currently hold around 40 per cent share in the Indian market and hopes to take it to 50 per cent once again with help of the Ertiga.
