Despite zero production at the moment, the company is still taking bookings for the particular models.
Following violent clashes between workers and the management group which led to the death of a senior executive and injuries to over 100 personnel, Maruti Suzuki had confirmed that production at Manesar plant will be shut-in for an indefinite period while investigations into the cause of incident are carried out.
A special investigation team had also been setup last week to look into the incident. Headed by Ravinder Tomar, Assistant Commissioner of Haryana Police, the team has so far arrested nearly 100 workers however the real offenders are still at large and yet to be arrested; which is why Maruti Suzuki, concerned about the safety of its employees, is still not in a position to resume operations at the Manesar plant.

With twelve straight days of zero production, Maruti is now facing its second major hurdle this month. Two of the company’s top selling cars, the Swift and the Swift Dzire have reportedly run out of stock. However, even though the order backlog has gone well past the 1.2 lakh mark, the company is still taking bookings for the particular models.
