Maruti Suzuki gains 20 per cent rise in sales in June 2012

Maruti Suzuki's Estilo, Swift and Ritz models have contributed to the 20 per cent jump in sales.
Maruti Suzuki India Pvt Ltd has reported a 20.30 per cent increase in its total sales in the month of June 2012 with total sales of 96,597 units. The company had sold 80,298 units in the corresponding period last year.
In the domestic passenger cars segment, the company recorded an increase of 23.11 per cent in sales with 70,977 units from 57,653 units sold in June 2011. The increase in sales of passenger cars is attributed to the compact car segment, comprising of the Estilo, Swift and the Ritz models, which together clocked sales of 22,624 units in June 2012 as compared to 16,239 units sold in June 2011.
On the other hand, sales of the Maruti Suzuki 800, A-Star, Alto and the WagonR models fell by 10.44 per cent to 34,198 units in June 2012 from 38,183 units sold in June 2011. Maruti Suzuki's mid-sized sedan, SX4 registered sales of 408 units in June 2012, which is a slip of 42.78 per cent when compared to 713 units sold in the year-ago period. Luxury sedan, Kizashi too registered a fall in sales by 81.25 per cent with sales of just 6 units as against 32 units sold in June 2011.

In the domestic market alone, the company sold 83,531 units in June 2012, which translates into 19.3 per cent growth when compared to 70,020 units sold in the month of June 2011.
In terms of exports, the Indian automaker clocked in total sales of 13,066 units in June, which is 27.13 per cent up from 10,278 units exported in the year-ago period.
