But Aston Martin collaboration might be on the cards

Maybach may be discontinued

Daimler's ultra-luxury brand Maybach competes with the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce but has seen only a fraction of their success. The brand faces its toughest time yet now; Daimler has announced that if a collaborator isn't found for Maybach development soon, it will face the axe. This may happen as soon as July 1, a mere fortnight away. However, rumours of Aston Martin stepping in to be that collaborator are making the rounds; the British Marque has been looking for a collaborator itself ever since it passed out of Ford ownership. If at all there is substance to the rumour, one can expect the first collaborative effort to be displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Aston is expected to help out with a show car's interior for the first effort, but in the long run alloy tech and its weight-saving technologies will surely be of much use to the German luxury brand
