Mercedes Benz launched the C-class AMG Performance Edition in Mumbai last week, giving it a temporary boost since the new A4 has heated up the competition and much-awaited BMW 3-series (F30) is almost here. Mercedes Benz tells us that current and prospective customers of the brand had requested for a C-class that looks sporty like the C63 AMG but is more practical for everyday use.
So what Mercedes Benz India churned out is a C-class with some sporty bits from the AMG parts bin. Interestingly though, Mercedes Benz chose the C250 CDI (diesel) as the basis of this idea – to build a car that is not only practical in terms of power and torque, but is also frugal (to say the least). The C-class AMG Performance Edition will have a limited production run though – but there could be other such special editions of the C-class that may come out in the future, as Mr Debashis Mitra hinted towards in his interview with OnCars.
