The race winner is the first international driver ever to win a Polo R Cup race.
Budding Mexican driver Deigo Duez made history last weekend by becoming the first international driver to win a race in the Volkswagen Polo R Cup. Following him to the chequered flag were female racer Alisha Abdullah and Prashanth Tharani Singh, taking the other two podium spots.
After qualifying third on the grid, Diego passed both the leaders and maintained his lead with ease right till the end of the race. Meanwhile, there was a close battle to be seen for the second spot between Alisha Abdullah and Prashant Tharani, with the former racer holding onto the position throughout the race.

Race winner Deigo Duez said, “It was quite an experience and I am very thrilled with the result. I drove aggressively for the entire race and was very harsh on the tyres but I am happy to have created a big gap between Alisha and me. The track is great and the car felt amazing to drive.”
Mr. Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsports, India said “It is great to be back at the Kari Motor Speedway. I would like to thank all the drivers for putting on a fantastic show. We had a pre-season test at the Buddh International Circuit earlier this year and that helped us to analyze the driver’s performance in the petrol TSI Race Polo. The Volkswagen technical team has done a great job all weekend to prepare the cars.”
