The next-gen S Class is expected to go on sale by end of this year.

New 2013 Mercedes-Benz S Class spied again

Yet another test mule of the next-gen Mercedes flagship has been spotted. This time around, the blokes at CarScoop, have once again managed to spy a nearly undisguised prototype of the 2013 S Class.

The car in picture – seen with minimal cladding to the key design elements such as the grille, headlamps, front bumper and over bits of the hood – pretty much gives us the impression of what the production version will look like. Codenamed W222, the new S Class features Mercedes’ latest design language first seen in models like the CLS and the A class.

Looking at the rendered images published last month, it can be said that the car looks much sleeker than the current S Class. The front-end features a redesigned grille and an all-new pair of headlamps with daytime running LEDs that help make the car look more upmarket. The side profile, although quite similar looking as the current car, is very chiseled making the overall silhouette dynamic and sleek. At the back, this new design somewhat harks back to the Bentleys of old, especially the flowing lines over the bootlid and leaf-shaped tail lamps.

Mums still the word on exactly what lies inside the cabin although top-notch attention to detail and quality is to be expected along with a number of world-first technologies. The new S Class will also get a brand new COMMAND system. However, we do not expect many changes under the hood given that current petrol and diesel engines are likely to be retained.
