The new Mini lapped Nurburgring in 8 mins 23 secs, bettering previous version by 19 seconds.

Mini has unveiled the new Mini John Cooper Works GP at the Mini United festival in France, last weekend. The new special-edition will go on sale later this year with a limited production run of 2,000 units. The company is yet to divulge specs of the new Mini, but has confirmed that this car lapped the Nurburgring circuit in 8 minutes 23 seconds, bettering the previous model by 19 seconds.

Just like its predecessor, the GP=spec car relies heavily on its WRC version for the performance bits. This hard-top loses its back seats for weight reduction, along with race-spec suspension, brakes for better performance. The new GP edition also gets Aero tweaks, better wheels and graphics to differentiate it from regular JCW model, also the power will be slight higher than the 214PS of JCW. The GP version will be available exclusively in this attractive grey colour.
The prices and the exact spec of the new model will be made available closer to its launch later this year. The new model should available in India post global launch - on order, through the Mini brand showrooms.
