Nissan India sales jump 187 per cent in April

Nissan's flagship models Sunny and Micra continue to bring in sales numbers for the company.

Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd has reported total sales of 3,467 per cent for the month of April 2012, which translates to an increase of 187 per cent as compared to the year-ago period. The high growth rate of sales can be attributed to Nissan's flagship models, Nissan Sunny sedan and Micra hatchback.
The Sunny sedan accounted for total sales of 2,012 units taking up the total sales number of the sedan to 16,173 units since its launch in September last year. The Nissan Micra accounted for total sales of 1,435 units in April 2011, which translated to an increase of 19 per cent compared to the year-ago period. Nissan X-Trail SUV, Teana premium sedan and the Nissan 370Z comprised the remaining sales.
Mr Ishida Takayuki, managing director of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd said, “Our sales in April have been very impressive and reflect customer trust and confidence in our products. The Nissan Sunny has received an overwhelming response from the market and we are confident that we will continue to excel this year and propel growth for all our products."
