The 2013 model will get an all-new 7-speed dual clutch gearbox instead of the R-tronic automated manual.

After over a year of teasing us with prototypes and sneak pictures, Audi has finally revealed the revamped 2013 R8, ahead of its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show. Like every other new Audi, the design is emphasized by subtle yet elegant styling cues that seem to have been crafted to perfection.

Design changes to the new R8 have been limited to slight cosmetic tweaks; at the front, the 2013 model gets a redesigned pair of headlamps with a much sharper layout for the daytime running lights.

Audi has also revised the front bumper and the grille though the overall design remains very close to the current R8. At the rear, the revamp appear to be even more discreet. The R8 now sports a set of new circular tailpipes, new taillamp design and a bigger diffuser.

For the 2013 model, Audi has concentrated more on what’s underneath rather than the looks; which is why the new R8 range now gets quite a few significant additions to improve on the performance of previous models. The biggest change being the addition of an all-new 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox instead of the old R-tronic unit. There is also a 6-speed manual unit on offer.

As for the engine lineup, things are pretty much the same, however the R8 now comes with a new range-topping model in the form of R8 V10 plus. It produces over 550PS of power and about 540Nm of torque although it will be only available as a coupe.
