The V8 powered Cabriolet will go on sale in early 2013.
Audi has officially unveiled the 2013 RS5 Cabriolet which is set to go on sale early next year. Unlike the hardtop version which (from a distance) pretty much looks like every other high-performance Audi on sale today, the RS5 Cabriolet sets itself apart with a motorized folding soft-top, revised front-end look, all-new 19-inch ten spoke alloys and full LED tail lamps at the back.
Under the hood, The Cabriolet is powered by the same 4.2-litre V8 found in the Coupe. It puts out about 450 PS of power and a healthy 430 Nm of torque. Mated to a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox, the RS5 Cabriolet puts its power down via Audi’s Quattro 4WD system. Thanks to the 4WD traction, Audi claims a 0-100kph time of 4.9 seconds, which makes it almost as quick as the Coupe. Top speed too – electronically limited to 250kph – remains the same.
Other mechanical changes include toughened bodywork, stiffer anti-roll bars and a reworked suspension setup, making the Cabriolet lower by 20mm as compared to the Coupe. The RS5 Cabriolet will go on sale in Germany first by early 2013, followed by other European markets.
